Astronauts Glen and Fuji travel to Planet X, a newly discovered moon of Jupiter, which for some reason has been transmitting radio waves to Earth. While there the two astronauts are then ordered to go down to the the caverns where the people of the planet are forced to go, allegedly because they are now being attacked on a regular basis by Ghidorah, who moved there after being defeated by Godzilla, Rodan and Mothra several months earlier. The aliens then request that they be allowed to "borrow" Godzilla and Rodan (sans Mothra) as a means of repelling Ghidorah and that in exchange they would be given a formula for a "miracle drug" to combat all forms of cancer. In the meantime, Fuji's sister Haruno is dating inventor Tetsuo Torii, who has just invented a high frequency transmitter to ward off muggers. A few weeks later the aliens take Godzilla and Rodan back to their planet and they seemingly defeat Ghidorah. The astronauts then get a tape recording supposedly containing the formula. The tape actually contains an ultimatum for the people of Earth to surrender or else face destruction from the combined strengths of Godzilla, Rodan and Ghidorah. Will the nations of the world give in to the demands of the aliens or will they be destroyed? And what role does Tetsuo's invention play in the upcoming battle?Written by Brian Washington.

Back in school I sometimes had to write unannounced quizzes from the material of the previous class. I suppose the point was to test if I have prepared for the class or not, but in multiple cases it was the feedback from the test that actually explained what I have previously misunderstood or didn't think fully through. That's a good thing, feedback from testing is a very valuable learning opportunity. But it is bullshit that I was punished by a bad grade for not fully understanding the previous class' material. If it was older material, for which we have already checked homework with the teacher, I would say okay, but that wasn't the case and I remember feeling betrayed. It certainly did not help me not hate studying.

Anonymous political discourse seems like a big chance... I guess, calling IRL names should be considered a foul, but even if that occurs occasionally, it should still remain interesting overall...
>>106
Political discourse is already anonymous (most happens on the web). Do you mean to introduce full anonymity to the house and congress and how do you suppose voting for nameless candidates would work? That would also remove the last bit of transparency from politics...
>>107 The actions of public officials should be public=transparent. Private people should have privacy. I mean private people should be allowed to voice their political opinions anonymously. Since it's their right anyway, there's no need to technically provide the means to track them down by name and punish them for what they said. Freedom of Expression is more important than avoiding tiny technically illegal things like insults for example...
Even voting could be directly on subjects, but that's not what I was talking about...
Another main thing I was getting at, is that this free exchange of political opinions of private citizens, could benefit from the existence of environments such as this, where you don't even have a username. Therefore, you don't have to worry about losing face when you change your opinion etc.
>>75

What if we taught people about life, but left out ethics?
I was just being random and tried to make fun of biology. So yes, in a way the choice between ethics and biology might be a false dichotomy in a way. Teachings about life should include ethics. That was kind of my point. But there are probably reasons why ethics was removed from biological science. Still, it is important to remember ethics as well...
>>75 But no, life is not all. Existence can be divided into alive and not alive.

it's like they're saying:

But that's not really how wars work anymore. Don't get me wrong they are still brutal and horrible. But it's more like pushing a button and then not noticing anything as a nuclear bomb or a drone hits their target.

FUCK OFF
I am for personal property, but when it comes down to getting on napster, no one but a bunch of technocrats wanting to milk the working class of their last drops of blood believes in intellectual property anymore. it is a hinderance to progress, draconian, and uncivilized.
>>203
I've never heard of anyone against personal property.
>>204
Isn't that one of the ideas in socialism?
>>205
Socialism and communism call for the elimination of private property not personal property. Not sure what the difference is supposed to be though.
>>206
The former is the private infrastructure (building, equipment, intellectual property, etc.) necessary for industry, this is equivalently termed the means of production.
>>205
An unfortunate aspect of modern terminology is that when the majority of people say socialist they mean social democrat. Social democrats have entirely different goals than the end of private property, and so most self-proclaimed socialists are in no way interested in changing property relations at all.
>>204
Oh shit, you know what I do remember some people who wanted to abolish personal property. You guys remember that "great reset" video which said "you'll own nothing and like it." Yep. That's me. 2AM on a slightly slow textboard.
You're probably wondering how I got into this situation.
Well... it all started right about when I was making the usual rounds.
I clicked on my browser malware of choice, instinctively tapped for a new tab, and an hour suddenly passed.
Then it struck me that I don't even remember the last three years of my life.
Deep in my gut I knew that if I just found a different thing to consume I wouldn't have to ask larger questions.
So I scoured.
For about 5 minutes I clicked around until this place revealed itself. The blue of the hyperlink seemed to glow just a tad brighter. For a moment I sat and contemplated, "Do I even want to click on this? Will this really do me any good at all?" But then I realized I started to think, and that's no good. Tap.
When I landed on the main page, it didn't register at first. It was hard to believe, but then it dawned slowly... this was what I needed.
I needed a new punch bowl. A fresh pressed checkered suit that comes with shiny click pens in the chest pocket, straightened. Some GNU (pronounced Guh-New) flavored architecture, with a tasteful contrast that lets the UX do the talking. No javascript. No advertisements. Strap sandals. Bandana.
This is the new me.

It seems insane that to become successful as a software engineer, you have to change jobs every three years otherwise your pay will stagnate and you won't be promoted. This aint how my ancestors did.
What I say it aint no fib.
I'm tired of sittin' here hid.
Its time to blow off this lid.
*snap, snap, snap, snap*
I only eat roundup ready wheat, mhm, delirium.
Most people don't accept this, but the reality is everyday we aren't living our life we are commiting suicide.
Some leaf under a small talon. Fell on the campus walkway.
Sit proudly in the belly of manicured forest, free one.
Dodge the burger wrappers hiding in the shade :^)
A center fountain drowns out chatter.
Fast forward four years and only the faculty remains.
Lotsa words for a parking-lot of lost souls.
When was the last time you saw someone run with some passion?
I desperately want to see that.

Shit like this makes me sick to my stomach. Fuck Discord.

Absolutely. Not going to help though. Discord works on the same principle that every monopolizing platform has worked before and people are attracted to such garbage like flies to a half rotten puddle of dog diarrhea.
She'll be wearing pink pyjamas when she comes.
It would only be around four times more expensive to have class sizes of three students each spending four hours studying daily. I don't think this is unrealistic.
Look away, look away, Dixie land.

Before the South shall bow Her head
Before the tyrants harm us
I'll give my all to the southern cause
I'll die in the southern army.
People who had a CS education shouldn't be allowed to call themselves software engineers. You need an engineering education to do that.
Most people who go to university for CS or software engineering programs would be better off just doing a programming bootcamp. They are not actually interested in the field and just endlessly complain how what they are studying is not marketable and fail all their courses. But since the universities get money from them, they will try to please these people and dilute their courses and teach hipster bullshit JavaScript frameworks and do job training instead of giving those who are actually interested a proper education.
These people are code monkeys, they are like the construction workers of the programming world. Make them attend a six month bootcamp and they will happily stagnate at a cushy job doing boring and repetitive work on some lame CRUD website that doesn't even need to exist. But don't let them keep the rest of the students down. They are holding progress back.
>>275
University has been moving in the direction of vocational training for some time.
>>275
Software engineering isn't a reference to the art of working physical materials to meet a desired physical outcome. The engineering part of software engineering is a reference to the art of solving computations within the context of real world computing constraints. Anybody can write a naive computation that solves the desired problem, but not everyone can solve the problem according real world computing constraints.
>>276
It is as if people signed up for civil engineering programs to become construction workers. Universities shouldn't let misguided students blackmail them into intellectual deprivation.
>>277
Computer scientists are scientists, they are not engineers. End of story.
Of course American schools abuse the term Computer Science. That needs to be corrected too.
>>278
Computer science is not a science.
Universities shouldn't let misguided students blackmail them into intellectual deprivation.

I can think in English but when numbers become involved, the numbers are always in my native language. I can speak pretty fluently in English, except for numbers, I have to translate them in my head. Is this just because I was too lazy to properly internalize English numbers?
They tugged, shook, and hit as they tumbled through the dark room. Screams could be heard throughout the castle, and seemed to last the entire night to all who listened, though none dared interfere. Before dawn one laid on the floor blood all around them. With the last breaths of the night: "Though you have slayed me, I will trust you yet." said thon. They shared devilish smile as they finally acquiesced.
When people say that the dog is man's best friend, what kind of friends do they have? Do they not realize that dogs have been bred to become a species of pathetic slaves to their masters? Is that really the ideal friend, someone who you can boss around, someone who cannot refuse, someone who depends on you for their survival?
I certainly wouldn't want to be friends with someone who treats me like a dog.
>>286
That's basically why i prefer cats. I don't want a servant around me 24/7.
most dogs live better lives than me
>>288
I fear you have a point there.
>>288
To make things worse, many people seem to think that dogs deserve better lives than humans do.

Fauci kills gays = fine
Fauci kills everyone - fine
Fauci kills dogs - Time to hang him
not really. chinese fixed that
now there are more dogs living less than humans, just like the amount of beef a dog has to eat everyday
>>292
yeah, I don't see how being locked in a home with nothing to do other than being a pillow for your owner is a better life.
it's a step away from solitary confinement if the owner is (most likely) a 8-5 wagie
I'll take my free will, thanks
or yeah, being skinned and broken up alive to stuff into a boiling pot

So you live in a torture chamber?

If I had 9 hours a day to myself I would have finished studying SICM by now. It's not my fault that dogs can't make us of the opportunities they have been blessed with.

Most people don't live, after work they just partake in their preferred form of attempted suicide, be that media, alcohol, social climbing, etc. Most people have even forgotten that the authentically lived experience of their childhood is still a possibility. To some extent they're right to have forgotten. Most of their hours have been stripped away from them, while entire industries are dedicated to convincing them to subscribe to this or that suicide pact, not even to mention the social pressure from the cult(ure). The social context does all but make them pull the trigger. Oh, and don't even get me started on the poisoned synthetic food designed we consume, designed to make us bloated and lethargic.
This thread will reach its limit soon.

At birth a continuation is taken, at death that continuation is called. In between are the computations that make life worth living.
