The problem is liberalism. If you cannot exert agency over individuals without their consent, the polity leaks out functionality through self-imposed malcontent (e.g. mental illness, obesity, malingering) without amelioration until revolution is inevitable because said malcontent spreads organically. If paternal authority and responsibility (i.e. pater familias in the early republic) were reestablished and familial control became absolute, this wouldn't be a problem as subsidiarity would naturally resolve fuck-ups at the local level rather than cascading to infect the body politic.
