You could alternately live in the woods and eat grubs and berries. But if you want to have nice things, then you're going to have bills, and if you have bills, then the course of your life is as you've described it. Maybe you'll change profession or location, but it's the same crap everywhere.
Don't worry about getting old and dying, because that's going to happen no matter what you do.
