Would it be at most one image per post then? Like in imageboards?
Would they be uploaded to the server or hosted somewhere else? (Since textboard threads don't 404, the first option could eventually pose data storage problems.)

Wasn't there some suggestion to optionally render the link in a text post? Certainly could be done with sbbs.el.
