I like how the word maintainer makes it sound as if the thing is in a continual process of collapsing under its own weight. They're like little imps running around to prop-up supports on some ancient yew, or cathedral; the last remnants of a dead or dying culture.
Anyway, version 3.16 (2014) and 4.4 (2016) are more or less still maintained if that's the type of thing you're interested in, and there is nothing stopping you from using an unmaintained version.
