i suspect the s/n of this place is much higher of your "just started a imageboard", particularly when it comes to technical discussion, but also history and sociology of technology. i mean the average comment is junk, but occasionally you get a homerun insightful gem, which keeps a lot of people coming back. imho an excellent board exists on a spectrum between an sms banter AND usenet discussion. without the later, you just get a lot of shitty truisms, a/s/l type posts, vapid navel gazing, etc.
