Computer science and engineering Master's thesis topics

Started out as a post but as anon stated, it probably should have its own thread (this one).

Same as https://textboard.org/prog/118, share Master's thesis topics that you think are interesting whether already existing, researched ones or new topics for interested people to consider picking up.

Example would be https://wiki.minix3.org/doku.php?id=publications, I'm personally interesting in systems and software engineering.

What about porting scsh to Guile~ self-adaptive software?

Are you expected to provide your own topic? Where I did my MSc they would publish a list of topics each potential advisor was interested in. Of course you could bring your own topic too, but I think that was less common than just choosing a proposed topic. After picking one you would meet with the advisor to narrow it down and work out the details.

I think it's better if you choose your own? I personally want to make the most out of MSc assuming I find an advisor comfortable with the subject. I checked the list of topics proposed in previous years and they appear to be very generic if that makes sense. I feel like even the teachers proposing these topics aren't interested in them. Most of them were just about re-inventing the wheel and for some reason lacking anything systems-related.

Design a system that similates a circle jerking community and the people who join don't realize they're jerking themselves with a machine. The machine is just a flesh light for their egos, like what the entire Internet has become in 2020.

Already done, I call my masterpiece, modern social networking with markov chains. You can see the fruits of my works here https://reddit.com .

I honestly can't think of anything ``systems-related''. I guess you could do something based on MirageOS, or replicate it using a different language (if you can justify why it is better for this purpose).

GNU Hurd has a list of open issues, although I have no idea how up to date it is: https://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/open_issues.html

But it looks like you already have a very good idea of what you want, so I don't really see how could we help.
