But I look at platforms like the OLinuXino and it seems like the perfect place, (if someone wanted to) to start with a bare-metal lisp and work work your way up.
On the other hand, unix (to me) is so much more open than other platforms I've worked on, and more programmer-oriented so it seems confusing to me to see it as the enemy.
But I do get the frustration with computer systems that take up so much more space than they did 20 years ago (and I'm not sure why).
