How to not be sad

I've been sad for way too long. Programming isn't fun anymore, nothing really is. Cooking seems fun though.

Nothing will cheer you if you're alone.

How about changing your frame of reference. Why do you need to chase a never ending ephemeral feeling? Why do you need to have "endless fun and happiness"? Having a satisfied life is related to living a mission that's bigger than just yourself and your ego. Having a satisfied life doesn't mean being happy or having euphoric feelings, it means getting up to do what needs to be done to reach the specific and clear mission. For many men, working to raise your family is that life mission; however your mission doesn't need to be raising a family as that was merely an example.

You just simply stop thinking.

The latent suicidality meme should be overwritten with something more positive fun and pro life - whatever you like really (that doesn't interfer with other ethics). Only harming others is business of police and government. Self harm is no business of cops. The natural consequences of it are punishment enough. "Protecting someone from themselves" is also not legitimate. Taking away more freedom and dignity from a person only decreases their will to live. The not immediate but latent and therefore highly infectious suicidality mind virus is a serious extinction threat to humanity (while I again emphasize that there should be no thought police, only individual ethics). Protect human life AND human will to live!

What's the difference between somebody who is "out of their mind" who harms themself and somebody who is "within their sane mind" who harms themself? I personally don't care about people who harm themself as long as it doesn't interfere with others. This means no socially funded public hospitals, this means not traumatizing your local community, and even having the decency to dig your own burial plot in preparation for your eventual death due to self-harm.

>>11 I wouldn't put all the blame on the person who comitted suicide. Sometimes, people are driven into suicide or at least not helped out of their situation...

Hi so I have been feeling a little better. Turns out a lot of it was just faulty relations with people, so I have cut those off. I also started smoking which is super out of character for me, but I got kinda desperate. Now it's not really something that I do regularly, but none the less, overall things have sort of just slowly gotten more and more better. Thank you all for your advice!
