Do you think they represent something more
primal and pervasively ancient, like fertility cults?
Perhaps the qualities of these 'Chaos' gods are not
at all alien and invented in past century?
Consider roman and greek decadence, the ritual prostitution and
pagan sacrifices. The ancient religion was wild,
full of emotion and mythical-heroic drive where
people were just following streams of energetic Aether manifesting
in dramatic fashion: prophesy, signs and miracles were something
readily accessible. Before Iron Age(ironically the 'thing' fae
dislike) humanity lived in some magic fairyland full of Chaos.
After Iron age, Order prevails and organized bureaucracies take
over religion and politics - bicameral minds think alike.
