Judging by all the cat memes and cat videos, I believe cats will be the next dominant form of life on earth. So, in the next few million years cat people will reign. After that who knows?

There was a documentary series about what would happen if people disappeared and I remember the cats pretty well took over short term. They're solitary in general, but perhaps some will evolve some real intelligence and begin to cooperate.
