As I grow up, I am understanding that people fundamentally are struggling with the concept of "control".
Schizophrenics kinda go straight into the deep end in this respect...going into how governments / people / "the voice in their head" are controlling the mind's decisions to provide illusions of free will. Drives a lot of these people's madness.

But even when you look into politics...fundamentally it's about control.
Control of:
- Acceptable views to make in public
- Acceptable views to make in private
- Who should be granted privilege.
- Who gets to be more successful
- What is considered "success" or a "good life"
- What you're allowed to do legally
- What you're allowed to do "in the grey area"
- Whom you should mate with
- Whom should raise the next generation, or whom will replace the old.
- What Traditions are acceptable and which ones should be abandoned and reformed.
- etc...

Regardless;
Fundamentally you as a single person cannot control "power". "Power" is the ability to control you. You must make peace with that fact... even people who create technologies that enable the control of power get assimilated into the power structure, get encouraged to surrender that power (with cutbacks), or to be destroyed.
This transcends politics and your ideologies. This is the simple fact of living in a free state or a authoritarian one.
If you fall in line with what the "Power" wants from you, you will live a decent life according to the standards that are possible in your area.

Fighting power is expensive, and in the vast majority of cases is not worth it.
Btw Democracy isn't a way to fight power... when all you vote for is the same power structure... democracy is only real when power is authentically challenged via a vote...this is rarely ever the case. Power will never allow themselves to be put onto a ballot.

In conclusion... Make Peace with Power. You will be rewarded.
