How to recommend books, or, stop recommending SICP
https://notes.eatonphil.com/recommending-a-book.html

This is not to say that SICP is a bad book or that you should not read it. I just don't think it should ever be suggested to anyone.

This is a subtle propaganda piece with the ultimate aim of increasing Standard ML's market share at the expense of Scheme.

No valid evidence is provided for his claim. I don't recall physics, or even much math being required to study SICP. SICP requires work, but is relatively well contained. His Goodreads account doesn't have SICP marked as read.

Install MIT/GNU Scheme and read Simply Scheme https://people.eecs.berkeley.edu/~bh/ss-toc2.html
