Someone should buy SchemeBBS and improve it by adding more features:

* Code syntax highlighting.
* MathJax.
* Image uploads.
* Tripcodes.
* Full BBCode and Markdown support.
* CAPTCHA.
* User registration and login.
* Private messages between registered users.
* Web chat.
* Tor onion site.
* Accept donations by credit card and cryptocurrencies.
* Premium membership and members-only boards.
* Ability to edit and delete posts.
* Ability to report spam.
* Replace textarea with a WYSIWYG rich text editor.
* Incorporate SchemeBBS as a limited liability company.
* Advertisements.
* Privacy policy.
* DMCA policy.
* Terms of service.
* Code of conduct.
* Creative Commons license for all posts.
* Programming language agnosticism (reduce pro-Lisp bias and remove the Scheme related links at the bottom of the webpage).
* License SchemeBBS under the GNU Affero General Public License.
* Comply with US sanctions.

License SchemeBBS under the GNU Affero General Public License.

SchemeBBS should become closed source software to stop hackers from finding security vulnerabilities in the code.

8 2021-10-23 01:47

* Tor onion site.

wynaut?

You're all communists.

How so? Could you explain in more detail?

SchemeBBS should proudly adopt the Contributor Covenant (https://www.contributor-covenant.org) for /prog/ and /spl/, and relicense the SchemeBBS software under the Hippocratic License (https://firstdonoharm.dev).

I echo this sentiment, especially if we pack it with >>11 as well.
Looking forward to re-calibrating our throughput to initiate this realignment with our North Star.
Let's keep this locomotive of thought turning toward brighter ventures while respecting every person in this room regardless of their background.
By keeping a diverse team we can further consider other opportunities in serving the userbase of SchemeBBS.
We'll sync on this quarters top priorities from the list at a later date. First I want to schedule a sync on setting-in-stone what our current objectives are and circling back to assigning the owners of each feature.

Remember to upgrade from MIT Scheme 9.2 to MIT Scheme 11.2.

Hippocratic License is a good idea. SchemeBBS is not a slave trading app and it's high time the license said so.

Not another cent to SchemeBBS.

15 2021-10-26 07:37

SchemeBBS needs a diversity quota and custom gender field.

16 2021-10-26 07:52

I find it interesting that SchemeBBS does not have a moderation team that removes incorrect posts. Budget problems?

17 2021-10-26 09:51

If they removed incorrect posts this place would be deserted.

18 2021-10-26 09:53

The best way to help SchemeBBS is by writing new Alyssa P. Hacker and Eva Lu Ator yuri fanfiction.

Don't forget the other employees of Microshaft:
* Ben Bitdiddle
* Cy D. Fect
* Lem E. Tweakit
* Louis Reasoner
* Oliver Warbucks
* DeWitt Aull
* Eben Scrooge
* Robert Cratchet

There's also Mickey and Minnie.

It's frustrating when someone posts an incorrect opinion, I support funding to fix this.

great way to make this website shit.
besides id die from shock if someone actually did all that in scheme.

22 2021-10-26 19:15

>>21 A great example of an incorrect post.

23 2021-10-26 19:15

Remove Ceers

24 2021-10-26 19:39

>>16,20
Incorrect posts are removed from /sandbox/ regularly: https://textboard.org/sandbox/

25 2021-10-27 00:52

>>21
Don't worry, it will not be done in Scheme. SchemeBBS will be rewritten in C to reduce its carbon footprint.

If we're going to reevaluate the tech stack, then I would recommend
* Kubernetes
* Rust
* Electron + Typescript w/ WASM (can package Electron within WASM and then serve it on the frontend with RUST bindings for simple and robust design, keeping javascript for UI necessities)
* Redis

Then we can make sure it's covered across regions, ideally aiming for seven 9's.

What about GDPR compliance?

28 2021-10-28 05:25

Someone should set up a server for code reviews (Phabricator or Gerrit) and continuous integration (Jenkins). There should always be unit tests and integration tests. No change to SchemeBBS should be made without a comprehensive code review by at least three people. We cannot let one person make changes to SchemeBBS without checks and balances.

29 2021-10-28 11:44

>>27
Regarding which data exactly? Also i was under the impression SchemeBBS was run from the US and GDPR is still european legislation. Contrary to what a bunch of fascistoid morons want everyone to believe local laws still don't automatically apply worldwide.

30 2021-10-28 21:41

>>29 SchemeBBS is run from senegal.

31 2021-10-28 21:54

>>30
Cool. Not exactly europe either though. So fuck them and their silly laws.

32 2021-10-30 05:18

* Replace MIT Scheme with C#.
* Replace Nginx with IIS.
* Replace FreeBSD with Microsoft Windows Server.

33 2021-11-01 01:33

SchemeBBS used to be licensed under the superior GNU Affero General Public License before it incomprehensibly switched to the inferior "MIT license".
