How many courses did you fail in university?

1 2021-10-06 18:08

What were the courses that you failed?

2 2021-10-06 18:42

Physics II was the only one where I actually failed the course, I had to retake it next semester. There the professor let me pass even through technically I did not meet the requirements.

3 2021-10-06 19:04

None. I didn't show up. But when I did, I passed.

4 2021-10-06 21:31

I failed pretty much all of them developing psychic powers on crystal meth while chasing skirt till it hert.

What is Physics II? Is it about electricity and magnetism?

6 2021-10-07 17:21

Statistics: I couldn't cope with online homework.
"Cyber security": I just gave up on a lot of stuff that semester for various reasons. That class was annoying, we were the best team in capture the flag but I got tired of trying to fit 6 Ubuntu VMs on my ancient thinkpad just to run someone's crappy PHP wrapper for nmap so I could do the fill-in-the-blank assignments.
web dev: The professor marked all my assignments I didn't turn in as 100% so I thought I was fine and then on the last day of the semester told me I'd need to turn them all in or get a "NP" or so for the class.
I failed the "can you use Microsoft office" exam they gave us at the beginning because I never use office. That pissed me off quite a bit.
I nearly failed some music appreciation class because I just didn't feel like turning in the essay at the end. The professor was extremely nice and let me email it to him like two months after the semester ended.

I actually finished my degree, have a good job, a 401k, a girlfriend, and a boat now.

I got a C in Calculus 3, the class was structured such that I could just guess and complete the assignments well, but I didn't learn any of the content necessary for the midterm or final. I nearly failed Statistics because I wrote a Common Lisp package instead of using Excel and the professor thought I was being a smart ass or something so decided to not grade my final until a combination of vague threats and apologies were made. Analysis I, II, Probability Theory, etc. no problem though.

It is dishonorable to fail any course at university. Your academic record would be stained forever.

9 2021-10-08 15:15

never. I can see how you could if you had a mean professor

courses don't mean anything anyway, just a path to become a debt slave

10 2021-10-08 18:12

every single one

Uni is to learn

12 2021-10-13 18:53

I failed "computer architecture" and "circut technology", because both were profoundly boring (though the topics are interesting per se) and I didn't have the time to properly prepare.

13 2021-10-14 14:40

ncourses failed

14 2021-10-15 02:23

Physics II, Fortran, Advanced Organic Chemistry. For the last two I was trying to work nights and everything just fell apart.

15 2021-10-15 14:53

Jesus will always love you, and that is the absolute reality.

What was your major?

17 2021-10-16 17:31

Biochem

18 2021-10-18 18:21

Computer architecture was awful. You don't need three lectures to explain flipflops.

19 2021-10-18 22:29

>>18
So how did you learn computer architecture? Did you learn by reading textbooks? What textbooks do you recommend?

20 2021-10-20 00:09

Uni is to learn

...how to have debt and be a slave to either academia or corporate, yes it is :)

21 2021-10-20 00:26

>>19

I think he meant they wasted to much time on something he felt was easily understandable. Besides you don't really need to know about architecture beyond what's needed to pass your exams and even that you can instantly forget afterwards. In real life you will hardly ever need that knowledge. Unless your goal is doing something in that very specific area of course. Seriously, it's like an extremely specific topic that never just randomly comes up.

So pay the fee with cash up front. Problem solved.

23 2021-10-20 08:09

>>19
I don't know actually, I had read quite a lot before college. Maybe it was the assembler manuals and Forrest Mims that gave me an intuition and then I applied that to bunch of other stuff I read on the internet?

24 2021-10-20 08:12

>>22
I mean, I did this but that's definitely not an option for most people.

25 2021-10-20 08:22

>>24
You either pay cash up front or abstain from attending university. Problem solved.

26 2021-10-20 08:30

>>25
Not going to university means you will never own anything and women will always look down on you. I avoided it for years, it doesn't work.

27 2021-10-20 10:31

>>26
Nonsense. I own several properties and according to formal education i don't even know a craft. You are somewhat right about women though. They usually don't like me much. I figure it's rather the result of me being a junkie than having no formal education though.

28 2021-10-20 18:15

I am a junkie for Jesus
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

Not going to university means you will never own anything

False. You only have yourself to blame for believing this lie.

32 2021-10-21 13:03

>>31
It definitely changed for me after going to university. Maybe going there forced me to change my attitude though.

33 2021-10-21 15:01

I admire the polish of an educated man. It benefits the soul to be refined, and to stand on the shoulders of giants is no great evil. I have met them all, both foul and fair, and there is nothing wrong with being educated if you can think for yourself, and think around the package of entitlement and privilege that you're sold with such institutions. I think humility is a great lesson to be learned.

34 2021-10-22 15:36

>>33
Finally someone who recognizes polish superiority.

35 2021-10-22 17:51

Polack chicks screw like crazy.

37 2021-10-23 08:38

I ate kremówka yesterday, can I be honorary Polish?

38 2021-10-23 21:42

I knew a polish girl (if you know what I mean.) Can I be honorary Polish?

39 2021-10-23 21:52
