Computing Hardware

I went camping the other day in the sopping southern heat. After a sound night's rest I woke to find that the condensation had swallowed up my Thinkpad R400 whole. It had a good life, I like to think, but that was certainly its end. I haven't decided if I'll swap the main board, get a replacement R400, repair my other broken Thinkpad, or move on. In any case I'm curious what you are using for portable computing these days, and even desktops may be of interest to others.

Do you really need a computer for camping?

No, I hardly used it at all, and it was barely even camping. I just decided to sleep in the yard. I'm probably going to start sleeping outside every night, at minimum while the weather's good for it.

Effectively decided for the curious. I'm just going to repair my Thinkpad x60s and buy a carrying case to keep it in so as to avoid further damages. I may also purchase a portable stand and small (maybe 40%) mechanical keyboard in time so that I can use it as a portable ergonomic workstation in time. This is a somewhat interesting thread so consider continuing to post here.

I apparently had most of the parts for repair on hand, I just need to purchase some 18650 cells to rebuild the battery pack and optionally potentially an LED modkit for the screen so as to have decent battery life.
