Backpacking

I've been sleeping outside for several night now. I'd like to start working outside as well, and be able to continue doing so into the winter. (for the former I at minimum need a battery for my laptop, but maybe even a separate solar panel, battery, and a fan for the mosquitoes)

Even in winter here most days are just below freezing, I'm curious if anyone has any ideas about how to best live out doors in these temperatures. I just learned about hot-tenting which seems sort of like what the American plains Indians used to do. Has anyone tried to do this for longer visits? Is it warm enough to type?

I'm not currently homeless, I'm still considering it but it seems unlikely that I'll go this way. Regarding the bedroll and tarp do they make sufficiently rated versions of these to be able to type in a hair below freezing weather with the assistance of your body heat? I noticed hot-tents seem to be used in much colder weather than we have here, so maybe there is an alternative I'm not aware of.
