When you post in a thread, it gets `bumped', it jumps to the top of the thread list. But if you sage, it stays where it was.

Suppose someone posts "ejaculate on yo mama" and you want to respond with "ejaculate on Yo Yo Ma." It's clearly worth posting, but maybe isn't worth bumping the entire ejaculation thread to the top of /sol. So you VIP.
