Back when it was so not cool to be a programmer, when the programmer stereotype was formed. When computers were not to be touched by normies...
Now the wierd programmer can't even find a job. Can't make it past the clueless hr who is looking for the 'ideal' culture fit to fit the 'role'.
Wondering if programming would be so popular without the same economic incentives?
I hear gamedev and os dev still has a bit of magic left but it is only a matter of time before the economic incentives get high enough and the technical barrier gets low enough, then it will get gentrified.
Web dev is gone -- RIP. Was never loved anyway.
